Obituary for Carol Redus
Carol Audrey McKenzie Redus – native of San Francisco, California, and a 1940 graduate of Lowell High School – died at the age of 94. She was a resident of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, for the past eleven years. Since 2012, she had lived in the loving Greenfield Senior Living community and was assisted in hospice by Caris Healthcare.
Carol is survived by son Kenneth and his wife Sherry of Oak Ridge, son Robert of Santa Fe, New Mexico, granddaughter Emily Chaffee and husband Zach, Cary, North Carolina, granddaughter by marriage Brandy Eleazer husband Joshua, Orlando, Florida, and two great-grandsons, Cole Chaffee and William Eleazer. Carol lived a full and rich life in many cities in the US and Europe. She traveled extensively and always marveled at the world’s beauty and diversity. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Ed P. Redus, Lt. Col. (retired) US Army, and her siblings, Wilbur McKenzie, Norbert McKenzie, and Eleanor McKenzie Barry.
Donations in her name may be made to Lowell Alumni Association as an English Departmental Grant (www.lowellalumni.org/giving). Carol’s ashes will be interred with her husband at Ft. Bliss, Texas, National Cemetery, and in the wind from her cherished Golden Gate Bridge.
